The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star, who recently broke up with sports star Alex Rodriguez, was throwing a party for a group of friends when one of them accidentally set fire to her couch with his cigarette.
The National Enquirer quotes Hudson as telling the culprit: "If you had just smoked outside where I asked everyone to smoke, my couch wouldn't have been damaged."
After repeated apologies and offers to pay for the repairs, Hudson allegedly forgave the man for the damage.
The actress recently threw a big Christmas party for stars such as Kate Beckinsale, Fergie, Liv Tyler, Tobey Maguire and Jason Statham.
