Pete Doherty is likely to be questioned by police over the death of his ex-girlfriend Robin Whitehead, it has been claimed.

Yesterday it was confirmed that Whitehead, who recently made a film about the Babyshambles frontman, had died at a flat in Hackney on Sunday following a suspected drug overdose.

The Sun now reports that while the 27-year-old's death is being treated as non-suspicious, police will investigate how she obtained the drugs which are thought to have killed her.

It is alleged that detectives will try to determine whether Doherty could have provided the illegal substances as he reportedly visited the flat the day before Whitehead's death.

A source told the newspaper: "Peter had been at the flat on Saturday night and left a lot of drugs behind rather than take them with him, because he's such an easy target for the police to search."

Doherty's best friend Peter Wolf, who lives at the flat, has so far denied claims that the star was at the property before Whitehead's passing.

A spokesman for Doherty said: "Peter was shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of Robin."
