Etta James 'hospitalised for infection'

Etta James has reportedly been hospitalised after contracting a 'serious' infection.

Access Hollywood reports that the 'At Last' singer has been at Riverside Community Hospital in California for a week.

Her son Donto said that she is recovering from sepsis caused by a urinary tract infection but added that he expects her to be released soon.

James apparently checked into a treatment facility last month to beat a dependency on painkillers and other medicine, but was transferred to the hospital when her infection got worse.

Donto also told KTLA that he fears his mother is suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
