Shamed Australian sports star Matthew Johns has signed a new talent contract with Channel 7.
The former NRL star, who was axed from The Footy Show after he admitted his part in a 2002 group sex scandal, has yet to reveal the nature of his new show but it is believed it will be a sports variety programme.
Network boss David Leckie declined to comment on the agreement between the channel and Johns.
Last year, a New Zealand woman said that she was left "traumatised" by group sex with Johns and his then-teammates eight years ago.
Talking about the scandal, Johns said: "One of the most difficult things was looking at the pain and embarrassment that I caused the people closest to me. It was my actions that caused it."
