Perry: 'Google ruined Russell's proposal'

Katy Perry has revealed that she knew that Russell Brand was going to ask her to marry him before he proposed.

The 25-year-old singer, who got engaged to comedian Brand in India on New Year's Eve, said that she found out that he was planning it on the internet.

"Unfortunately, I still Google myself sometimes," Us Magazine quotes Perry as saying on the Grammys red carpet. "I saw it on Google alerts. I'm going to be honest!"

Brand said of the proposal: "We were on an elephant just before it. We were in India. It was at midnight, and it is not a good idea to be on the back of an elephant during a fireworks display."

The couple also jokingly asked Grammys red carpet host Ryan Seacrest to marry them.
