According to ET Online, the 'Gravity' singer has pledged the cash to the American Red Cross to benefit survivors of last month's quake.
It is thought that the money was contributed through his Back To You fund.
Mayer has also agreed for his track 'The Heart Of Life', from his 2006 record Continuum, to be used in a public service announcement about the relief efforts.
Other stars to have pledged money to the cause include Mayer's ex-girlfriend Jennifer Aniston, Gisele Bundchen, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, and Leonardo DiCaprio.
