Murphy husband: 'She wasn't that ill'

Brittany Murphy's husband has revealed that he had not believed that his wife was "that ill" before she died on December 20.

Simon Monjack, who was married to Murphy for over two years, said that he was surprised and "ridiculously upset" to discover that the Clueless actress died primarily from pneumonia, together with drug intoxication and "iron deficiency anaemia".

Monjack told People magazine that "everything" in Murphy's autopsy report surprised him and her mother, adding that they both expected the cause of death "to be her heart".

Talking about how Murphy felt on the day she died, he said that she was "not that ill. She wasn't coughing up. I've had pneumonia and coughed up handfuls of spittle. So yeah, everything surprised us, everything."
