Coroner: 'Brittany Murphy was emaciated'

Brittany Murphy was emaciated at the time of her death, the Los Angeles Coroner's Office has said.

Chief Investigator Craig Harvey claimed that Murphy weighed 115lbs when she was found dead on December 20, according to Us Weekly.

Harvey went on to say that the 5ft3in actress "wasn't the healthiest person in the world".

Murphy's husband Simon Monjack has insisted that although the star appeared to be emaciated, she did not suffer from an eating disorder. He also dismissed rumours that she had a prescription drug addiction.

Multiple prescription drugs were found in Murphy's home at the time of her death, but Monjack claimed that she was only taking painkiller Vicoprofen and antidepressant Fluoxetine.

The British screenwriter has been criticised for allegedly contributing to his wife's passing.

"You want to know what broke Brittany Murphy's heart?" he said. "Hollywood broke Brittany Murphy's heart."

The actress's death has been ruled accidental.
