Lil Wayne 'quits cough syrup addiction'

Lil Wayne has revealed that he has quit his notorious addiction to cough syrup.

The 'Lollipop' rapper, who has often spoken about his love of getting high on the promethazine-codeine drink, admitted to kicking the habit ahead of his impending year-long jail sentence.

"I haven't f**ked with that in a long time," Wayne told Rolling Stone, claiming that he had in fact stopped drinking the substance last May.

"I'm a very successful addict," he added. "And a smart one. And a very charismatic one."
