Nicole Richie 'doesn't dwell on the past'

Nicole Richie has said that she has moved on from her troubled past.

The 28-year-old socialite - who has previously been arrested for heroin possession and later spent time in rehab - claimed that she won't fall back into her past vices because she has faced her history and accepted it.

"You know, I'm one to live in the present and enjoy the time that I'm having," Richie said of her home life with boyfriend Joel Madden and their two children - Harlow, 2, and 4-month old Sparrow.

"Going back into my past is just not something that I do. Right now, I'm living my dreams. To me, I've accepted responsibility for what I've done and I don't really try and look at why I did it."

Richie added to Marie Claire: "I just feel that I have gotten past it and moved on, and it's just something that's not really a part of my life anymore."
