Corrie's Kym Marsh defends Katie Price

Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has claimed that the public should stop giving Katie Price "a hard time".

The actress, who plays Weatherfield's Michelle Connor, confirmed that she is happy for Price following the glamour girl's recent wedding to Alex Reid in Las Vegas.

Writing in her New magazine column, Marsh explained: "I'm really pleased for them. I think they are very good for each other. I said from the start of Celebrity Big Brother that Alex seemed like a nice bloke and he proved me right."

On the continued controversy surrounding Price's split from Peter Andre, she added: "I just wish everyone would stop giving Katie such a hard time, and give up on all this Team Price or Team Andre business. People split up all the time!

"I know some of it is fuelled by the fact that they talk about it to the press and it's certainly not something I would do when there are kids involved but that doesn't mean Katie doesn't have the right to be happy! Congratulations!"
