Porter speaks about overdose

TV presenter Gail Porter has spoken about her overdose, which she has described as a "cry for help".

The former Big Breakfast host has admitted to suffering from depression since the birth of her daughter, Honey, two years ago. The breakdown of her marriage to Toploader guitarist Dan Hipgrave has added to her personal problems.

Porter has now told the News of the World that the overdose was, "the biggest mistake of my life and the lowest thing I've ever done."

"I fell apart," she explained. "I took a couple of pills, then a couple more, then I poured a vodka and Diet Coke and another one and another one. I don't know how many pills I took and I don't know why I felt so low but that's all part of the depression I suffer from."

Porter added, "It was a cry for help, not an attempt to commit suicide, but it was stupid because I've got a beautiful baby."

Gail has filed for divorce from Hipgrave but the pair have decided to try and remain friends. She is now dating TV cameraman James Lloyd.
