Paul Hester of Australian group Crowded House was found hanged in a park according to an emergency services spokesperson.
Hester disappeared after setting out to walk his two dogs on Friday evening. His body was later found in a park near his Melbourne home. The Associated Press reports that Metropolitan Ambulance Service spokeswoman Liraje Memishi said that "he was dead when they arrived" on Saturday after he had "attempted suicide."
Though she refused to confirm the location of the body, reports suggest that he was found hanging from a tree.
Crowded House's hits include Weather With You and Don't Dream It's Over. Hester quit the group in 1994, tired of the stress of touring.
He leaves behind him girlfriend Mardi Sommerfield and their two daughters aged eight and ten.
