"I remember her laugh", Alan Cumming told People. "She was really kind to me."
Friends of Richardson recalled her as a talented cook and inviting hostess.
"She made a wonderful Boeuf Bourguignon", said Stanley Tucci, who emceed the event. "You never had a bad meal at Natasha's house."
Actress Julianna Margulies agreed: "If you slept over at her house, first thing in the morning [there was] fresh baked bread."
Meanwhile, Richardson's mother Vanessa Redgrave gave a tribute to her daughter, saying: "My darling Natasha, I'm so proud of your courage, your hard work, your total commitment and your beautiful, life-giving spirit. Thank you."
The night ended with a song by Lady GaGa, followed by a rendition of traditional Irish tune 'The Parting Glass', sung by Meryl Streep.
