Joe Calzaghe taking acting lessons

Boxer and Strictly Come Dancing star Joe Calzaghe has revealed that he is taking acting lessons.

The Welsh sports star claimed that he is currently looking for an agent to help break him into the movie industry.

"I did Strictly to raise my profile," he said. "I boxed for years and years but now I want to get into acting and it's important that I look the part. I'm going to start some acting lessons in the next few weeks and find an agent.

"You only have to look at someone like Vinnie Jones - he proves that you don't have to be Al Pacino to get into it.

"I can see myself playing a bad guy too. For years and years I played a bad guy in the ring - and I can be pretty mean if I have to."

Calzaghe also said that he recently spoke to Sherlock Holmes director Guy Ritchie about his plans.

"Guy Ritchie is a huge boxing fan and he gave me some good advice when I met him at the after-show party for the premiere of his film Sherlock Holmes late last year," he added.
