The New York Daily News reports that the incident took place yesterday when Baldwin returned from work.
Reporters and photographers had reportedly gathered outside his property because of the news that he had been taken to hospital.
When New York Post photographer Tim Wiencis tapped him on the shoulder, Baldwin allegedly shouted: "Don't touch me! I'm calling the cops!"
He is also said to have grabbed Wiencis by the collar, yelling, 'This guy!' However, the police immediately pulled him off the paparazzo and took him inside.
Meanwhile, a witness claimed that Baldwin was pacing the lobby of his building, saying: "They are the lowest scum of the Earth."
Wiencis told the police that Baldwin had "assaulted" him but no charges were filed.
