Mayer 'didn't make Simpson go brunette'

Jessica Simpson has reportedly laughed off speculation that ex-boyfriend John Mayer was behind her decision to become brunette in 2006.

The singer and actress dyed her signature blonde locks dark brown during her relationship with Mayer, prompting rumours that he was responsible.

According to Us Weekly, she told Allure: "He didn't make me go brunette. John doesn't get credit for making me brunette. He'd like to think so, but he doesn't deserve the credit."

She also insisted that she was still friends with ex-boyfriend Tony Romo following their split last year, saying: "I talked to Tony today. I'm still a fan [of the Dallas Cowboys]. I'm a huge fan. I wear my gear, and I cheer Tony on."

Simpson's new VH1 show The Price Of Beauty debuts next month.
