Monjack "sobbed" over Murphy autopsy

Simon Monjack has revealed that he struggled to read the autopsy of his late wife Brittany Murphy.

The report into the actress's death was released earlier this week. It confirmed that her passing was accidental.

"[Murphy's mother and I] both sobbed and sobbed," Monjack told Us Weekly. "I haven't gotten out of bed yet. I pulled the report away from Sharon because I thought I was going to have to sedate her."

However, Monjack added that he found some "solace" in the report because it vindicated his claims that Murphy had not taken illegal drugs.

"She never did anything that she was accused of," he said. "We never hid anything. And that's been the case with everything in our marriage. Maybe with her death people will start to realise - yes, we had a lot of prescriptions around, but if you look at some of them they date from 2001."

Monjack admitted that he goes "over and over and over" Murphy's death and asked people to stop speculating about their marriage.

"Our marriage was dogged by these ridiculous rumours," he said. "Brittany's life was dogged by ridiculous rumours, and the truth always wins out. I hope people have the sense to really understand that everything was beautiful and wonderful in our relationship and so pure."
