Cowell mum wants small church wedding

Simon Cowell's mother Julie has said that she would be happy if her son got married in an East Sussex village near where he grew up.

The 84-year-old former dancer told The Mirror that Simon could wed girlfriend Mezhgan Hussainy in St Margaret's church in Rottingdean, Brighton.

Julie said: "I'm very excited about the wedding and I'd love him to get married in St Margaret's. But it's up to him and Mezhgan.

"I've told Simon Father Martin Morgan would be very happy if he got married there as we have a long history with the church. Simon is very committed for the first time ever, which is wonderful. The wedding is very important to me."

Father Morgan added: "It had not crossed my mind that the wedding would be here because Simon’s such a big star."

A source close to the X Factor boss reportedly said of Simon: "He doesn't want to upset Julie - they are very close. He's finding this marriage stuff stressful. He's used to making up his own mind and now has to factor in other people's feelings."

It has been suggested that Cowell could marry Hussainy in Los Angeles before having a second blessing ceremony at St Margaret's.
