The Oscar nominee will take part in a Radio 4 version of Ian Fleming's Goldfinger, reports the Daily Express.
Toby Stephens will voice James Bond, Rosamund Pike is to play Pussy Galore and McKellen will portray Goldfinger.
The dramatisation will be broadcast on April 3 and will apparently be more faithful to Fleming's work than the 1964 film version.
