Mariah Carey has declared that her turbulent marriage with Tommy Mottola left her "traumatised."

The singer married Mottola - the record executive who first signed her - in 1993 but the pair split four years later.

"After going through the experience I went through, my whole view on marriage is tainted no matter what kind of marriage we're talking about," said Mariah in a recent interview. "I've been traumatised."

She also revealed: "There was a time when all I was allowed to do was gay clubs because my quote-unquote husband was so afraid of me being around straight people."
