Rich Cronin, singer with the now defunct boyband LFO, has been hospitalised with leukemia.

According to MTV News, the 29-year-old was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia on March 28. The exact cause of the disease is unknown, yet it ranks as the most common type of acute leukemia amongst adults.

Cronin, who underwent his first round of chemotherapy last week, is being treated near his hometown of Boston. He will soon find out whether he makes it into remission. "I'm praying every second that this will come out of me," he told the channel.

He added: "In two weeks, this has completely changed my life and my perspective on it. The first thing you want to do once you hear the news is run, but you can't, because it's inside of you. You have no choice but to face it."

LFO, known in the UK as 'Lyte Funkie Ones,' enjoyed a string of hits in the late 90s, including 'Girl on TV' and 'Summer Girls.'
