Dave O'Neil has cancelled his return to stand-up comedy.
The Australian radio and TV star, who was scheduled to return to the scene in this month's Melbourne Comedy Festival, was forced to rethink his plans after shattering his right knee in an on-air stunt two weeks ago.
The stunt involved O'Neil jumping over co-host Ian Dickson on a BMX bike and resulted in him needing emergency surgery.
Talking about his bed-ridden state, the comedian told The Daily Telegraph: "My bed has become a meeting place, my kids come and sit on it... then leave it full of toys and books and games.
"I've been out of the house twice in two weeks, it's hard when you still have a brace on your leg. I also didn't want to go on stage in crutches, I wanted to go in 100%. I don't want to break something else by being stupid."
