Diana Vickers: 'Singing Bassey was easy'
Published Wednesday, Mar 3 2010, 18:16 GMT | By Mayer Nissim
Diana Vickers has said that she found it easy to imitate the likes of Shirley Bassey once she got the hang of it.
The former X Factor star picked up a 'Best Newcomer' gong at the What's On Stage Awards for her title performance in the recent West End revival of The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice.
Vickers told DS: "Once I discovered how my body worked and how so much effort from your body goes into creating sound and from your throat, I picked it up quite easily. It was probably a hidden talent that I was really, really unaware of.
"By my second vocal lesson, I was popping out Shirley Bassey all over the show and it was really quite easy, but I was very surprised at myself. It was like fate that I got approached, I guess."
