The former EastEnders actress is currently starring in a touring production of the play alongside Hannah Waterman, Gemma Atkinson and Lynda Bellingham.
Calendar Girls tells the real-life story of a group of Women's Institute members who produced a nude calendar to raise money for charity.
Reflecting on her role, Dean told the Bedford Times & Citizen: "I'd seen the film when I was offered the part but I went along to see the show and fell in love with it.
"I really wanted to be a part of it. There's such camaraderie and it's such a gorgeous story. I think the fact that it's a true story makes it more special."
She continued: "It's not about showing off and thinking that we have glorious bodies. We're all shapes and sizes. It's actually quite liberating and I think the audience can relate to that."
Dean will remain in the Calendar Girls cast until at least the summer.
