Mandela 'thought Clarkson was astronaut'

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed that Nelson Mandela thought he was an astronaut.

The Top Gear presenter and his co-host James May met Mandela at an event in aid of his 46664 charity.

However, Clarkson told The Times that Mandela mistakenly believed they were the pair of astronauts he was due to meet later.

"That was tricky," Clarkson said. "So I did what I thought was best and said it was very rocky and dusty [on the moon] and there was not much gravity."

Clarkson also revealed that he asked Mandela whether he had ever been to a lapdancing club.
