Brendan Fevola has been dropped from an AFL advertising campaign.

The Australian sports star, who was recently accused of circulating a naked photograph of his ex-lover Lara Bingle, will no longer star in football promotions in an AFL and Channel 7 bid to limit the damage caused by the scandal.

Having questioned Fevola, the AFL released a statement to AAP that read: "The AFL wishes to advise that Brendan Fevola will not feature in a TV commercial to promote rounds one and two for the Brisbane Lions.

"The planning for the shoot of the commercial was arranged several weeks ago and was scheduled to go to air in Brisbane later this month, for the opening to the season of the Lions.

"Brendan Fevola was to be used as part of the campaign but the commercial will now go ahead without any reference to Brendan Fevola.''

Bingle is rumoured to have accepted a six-figure payment to tell her side of the story exclusively to Woman's Day magazine, which will prevent her from seeking legal action over the photograph.
