Jackie Chan (The Tuxedo) has called for an international landmine ban on the first day of his visit to Cambodia.
Chan is visiting Cambodia as a Unicef goodwill ambassador, seeing recovering victims of the devices and mine education projects as he plans to make a film on the subject, the BBC reports.
Cambodia has seen 4,200 fatalities since 2000 at the hands of landmines, a quarter of them children, according to the charity. Chan stated: "I have to stop them. They are hurting so many children."
After visiting Banda Aceh, Indonesia which was affected by the tsunami, he arrived in Battambang today. He will meet victims at the local hospital and visit the intensely-mined Pallin area, a stronghold of the former Khmer Rouge regime.
