Simon Cowell 'to marry within ten years'

Simon Cowell has confirmed that he is engaged to his girlfriend Mezhgan Hussainy.

Appearing on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, the American Idol judge was asked about the reports that he is planning to wed Hussainy.

"Are [the rumours] true?" he said. "Well, I do have somebody in my life now, Jay, yes. And I kinda made a decision this year to make somebody happy."

Cowell admitted that Hussainy's engagement ring is "quite big" but added that he is "very uncomfortable" talking about the proposal.

"I was asleep, I think," he joked. "No, look, I bought her the ring in London."

Cowell explained that he wants to get married "in the next ten years" but admitted that he is unsure whether or not he wants to have children.

He said: "I'm kind of torn, because I'm a bit too old to have kids, but then again I think it would be important to have a lot of mes around in the future."
