Ellison to star in 'Calendar Girls'

Jennifer Ellison has signed up to appear in a production of Calendar Girls at the Liverpool Empire.

The former soap actress and mother-of-one, 26, will star in the comedy drama from September. Ruth Madoc, Jean Boht, Joe McGann and ex-Coronation Street star Bruno Langley will also appear in the show.

"We are delighted the Calendar Girls tour will be stopping off at the Empire," general manager Hannah Ashdown told the Liverpool Echo. "With such a fantastic cast, I am sure it will be a great success in Liverpool." The production will run from September 27 to October 2.

The 2003 Calendar Girls film featured Julie Walters, Helen Mirren and Celia Imrie in the lead roles. Meanwhile, the West End production has featured turns from Kelly Brook, Gaynor Faye, Lynda Bellingham and Gemma Atkinson.
