John Barrowman has admitted that his hair would be "completely white" if he did not use dye on his locks.

The Doctor Who and Torchwood actor revealed that he is trying to hold back the years following advice from his partner Scott Gill.

Barrowman, 42, told Attitude magazine: "My hair's only still the same colour because of the bottle. I'm completely white. Scott and I tested it out a couple of years back. I shaved my head and let it grow and no-one saw it.

"I let it come out grey to see if it was time to let my hair go back to its natural colour. He looked at me and said, 'I'm not so ready for that yet'. And he's older than me. He's 47 this year but looks like he's 20."

In 2008, the star confessed that he had used Botox to remove creases around his eyes and described the injections as "quite good".

Barrowman recently signed up for a five-episode guest stint in Desperate Housewives and is also hoping to land a role on Glee.
