Phil Spector has appealed his criminal conviction, according to E Online.

The record producer was charged with second-degree murder for the shooting death of actress Lana Clarkson in 2003. Spector is currently serving 19 years to life in prison.

On Wednesday, Spector's attorneys filed a 148-page brief requesting a third trial for the 70-year-old because of alleged misconduct on the part of the prosecutors.

They are also alleging judicial misconduct, claiming that the prosecution led jurors by showing them a video of Superior Court Judge Paul Fidler commenting on evidence.

A ruling from the state appellate court is likely to take at least a year.
