will.i.am: 'Cheryl split is great news'

will.i.am has claimed that Cheryl Cole deserves better than her former husband Ashley.

Cole, who announced the end of her marriage last month, worked with the Black Eyed Peas star on several tracks for her debut solo album 3 Words.

Speaking to the News of the World about the split, will.i.am said: "What's that about? Cheryl's too nice to be cheated on.

"I don't know what he's doing. If she was someone out in the clubs then I would understand it. But she's not. She's the prettiest, hottest girl. She deserves better."

However, he admitted that he is attracted to Cole himself, joking: "It's great news. I'm texting her right now actually."

He added: "Let's just say she's a beautiful girl and I can't wait to hang out with her more. I'd move to London if it meant being with her."

will.i.am explained that he is looking forward to performing with Cole when she supports the Black Eyed Peas later this year but dismissed claims that he wants her to replace Fergie in the group.

"All I said was that if Fergie was ever to leave, Cheryl would be the girl to replace her," he explained. "I mean she's signed to my label over here [in America]. But Fergie's not going to leave."
