Alexandra Burke has advocated her mother Melissa Bell's new talent contest Roc Da Mic, according to reports.

It was recently suggested that the pair are arguing over Bell's alleged intention to release a tell-all book.

However, Bell has now claimed that the speculation is "absolute rubbish".

Speaking to STV, she said: "Alexandra has given Roc Da Mic her blessing."

The former Soul II Soul lead singer added: "The shows are a great way to uncover new talent and give people who may not have another opportunity, the chance to get their voice heard, while also raising money for charity."

Auditions for the talent contest, which raises money for charities, will kick off on the road from April 11 in Glasgow, before heading to London, Manchester, Cardiff and Liverpool.
