Keane star 'credits golf for beating drugs'

Keane frontman Tom Chaplin has revealed that he managed to beat his drink and drug demons by playing golf.

The singer, who checked into The Priory in 2006 to battle various substance addictions, has now credited the sport for helping him stay clean.

"I am actually quite obsessed with it," Chaplin told The Sun of his hobby.

"When Alice Cooper needed to give up booze he said, 'What the hell am I going to do if I can't drink?' so he started playing golf and became completely obsessed with it - and that's kind of the same as what happened to me."

Chaplin added: "Alice's whole tour schedule is built around playing golf. I don't know if the same thing is going to happen for Keane, but it certainly gives me some relief."
