Access Hollywood says that the actress was one of several people who posted messages about the man from Florida.
After the man wrote that he was thinking of hanging himself, Moore "retweeted" his message and said: "R U rlly asking 4 help?" The man later replied: "Yes."
The Seminole County Sheriff's Office said that authorities received two calls from the West Coast reporting the suicide threat.
Lt. Sonia Pisano explained that deputies visited a house and took an uninjured man to hospital, but said that she could not reveal any more details.
Earlier today, Moore posted: "Thank you twitterverse for your help supporting someone in pain last night."
Last April, Moore was credited with alerting police to a woman who was contemplating suicide.
