The Mean Girls star reportedly failed to apply for the correct paperwork to appear in a BBC documentary on child labour and trafficking in the country, which was filmed last year.
According to The Daily Telegraph, officials are now considering banning the star from going back. Activists slammed Lohan at the time for trivializing child rescue operations after she appeared to claim that she was involved in the rescue of 40 enslaved children.
One Indian lobbyist claimed that Lohan portrayed the operations in a superficial light by suggesting that they could be carried out by a passing celebrity. A BBC spokesman stressed at the time that Lohan did not say that she was present at the raids and was merely commenting on their success.
