Love: 'I don't want to live off Kurt'

Courtney Love has said that she would prefer not to live off the royalties from her late husband Kurt Cobain.

The Hole frontwoman married Nirvana singer/guitarist Cobain in 1992, two years after they first met. The couple had daughter Frances Bean six months later, but Cobain shot himself dead in 1994.

Talking about the possible commercial success of comeback album Nobody's Daughter, Love told The Guardian: "I would love to not have to use Kurt's cheques any more, to not have to live on Kurt's money.

"I want my money, my money that I'm going to make with my own f**kin' hands. [But] I'm f**king terrified. Commercial success killed my husband. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with commercial success. But I'm not going to let it f**k me up this time."

She added of Cobain: "He was an oblivion seeker, a f**king lotus eater. I never wanted that. I was the kind of drug addict that just wanted to be comfortable in my skin.

"Escapism once in a blue moon, but it wasn't for me. Kurt would just go on until he dropped. So he died. That wasn't fun."
