Busted out: Matt Jay
The 22-year-old had entered the celebrity rehab clinic last month to receive treatment for alcohol abuse.
"I've been through a tough period," Matt told the newspaper. "But I'm back now and looking forward to working on my new album."
Having appeared live at the Brixton Academy on Friday, he is now holed up in a Gloucestershire mansion to write the debut record, which is expected to have a punk theme.
He is also reported to be back tgether with on-off girlfriend Emma Griffiths.
