Miley Cyrus: 'Justin Gaston is great guy'

Miley Cyrus has described ex-boyfriend Justin Gaston as a "great person", but admitted that a long-distance relationship would never have worked.

The Hannah Montana star split from Gaston last summer before flying to Tybee Island to begin filming new movie The Last Song, where she met current boyfriend Liam Hemsworth.

Speaking to People, she said: "He's a great person and I respect him, but I think a long distance relationship would never work for us.

"Obviously I'm happy that that happened. It just shows that everything happens for a reason."

Cyrus continued to reveal that she was "surprised" to fall for Hemsworth on set, explaining: "I'm not really a big lovey person. I'm not, like, mushy. I was pretty much like, 'I'm going to die alone!' Liam was the first person that made me want to be in a real relationship."
