'Gossip Girl' star Settle praises Rutherford

Gossip Girl actor Matthew Settle has praised co-star Kelly Rutherford for helping him through his marital split.

The star, who plays Rufus Humphrey in the CW drama, separated from wife Naama in February. The couple are parents to 1-year-old daughter Aven.

Speaking to OK, he said: "She's a good friend. She's a wonderful support. She's going through something similar, and she's a good person to call when I have questions.

"We encourage each other in a way of keeping our minds edified. When you're going through a tragedy, you don't want to get negative because it doesn't help anybody. That's how we help each other."

Rutherford (Lily Van Der Woodsen) filed for divorce from Daniel Giersch in December 2008. They have two children together: Hermes, 3, and 9-month-old Helena.

She previously revealed that she shared a close bond with Settle, and echoed his statement that they are supporting each other.
