Rebecca Gibney has described the past two years of her life as a "rollercoaster ride".

The 45-year-old Australian actress, who is best known for playing Julie Rafter in Packed to the Rafters, said that she never expected to be so busy at this point in her career.

Gibney told The Daily Telegraph: "I moved to Tasmania and took four years off after having my son at 39 and that was fine. Then this offer to appear in a pilot came along, it turned into a massive series.

"I worked on the Maria Korp telemovie [Wicked Love] and we're about to be back on air with Packed after a five-month break. It has been a rollercoaster ride."

Gibney, who was recently nominated for a Gold Logie award, said that she thinks Home and Away star Ray Meagher will win. She said: "I don't expect to win it because there is a public groundswell of support out there for Ray and I think he'll edge me out.

"He's a stalwart, he's never been nominated before and it is about time for him because he's been on our screens for 22 years and I would really like him to win."

She has also been nominated for 'most popular actress' along with on-screen daughter Jessica Marais and Home and Away sisters Esther Anderson and Rebecca Breeds.
