According to TMZ, the doctor's lawyer Ed Chernoff said that the clinician was in financial hot water before Michael Jackson's death and is now "without fear of overstatement, hanging on by a thread".
Murray apparently believes that if the judge suspends his licence, the states of Texas and Nevada will follow suit and he will not be able to fund what is required to mount his defence in the Jackson death case.
Although it is thought that Chernoff will not be paid, Murray is still responsible for expert witness fees and other court expenses.
