The Kimora: Life In The Fab Lane star was filmed when she welcomed her son Kenzo last May.
"I had no choice, probably because I had a contract and I needed to go to work," she told Zap2It.
"I have a close relationship with my fans, my viewers. So I feel like it's okay to see me pregnant. I show women that if I get pregnant, it's just another part of my life. It's not like I have to go hide. My life goes on."
Simmons, who split from her ex-husband Russell Simmons in 2006, added that she is happy in her second marriage to model Djimon Hounsou.
"I feel like my family has grown into a very good space," she said. "I'm just very, very happy. I'm very peaceful. I feel like my husband is such a great force in my life. He really helps me to feel grounded."
Kimora: Life In The Fab Lane airs Sundays at 9pm on Style.
