The singer-actress was previously married to Nick Lachey and following their 2005 divorce, she embarked on a string of faltering relationships with John Mayer, Billy Corgan and Tony Romo.
Simpson, 29, declared that she is determined to settle down and have children before her 40th birthday, but voiced fears that her high standards could disrupt her plans.
She told Fox News: "By ten years I would love to be a mum, I would love just to be in love and be a mum. It sounds simple but it's a lot harder [than you think]. I'm pretty picky."
