The Office creator revealed that a GQ story opens with a quote he never said.
"We talked for some time. The journalist even taped it. What could go wrong?" Gervais posted on his official blog.
He added: "I'll tell you what can go wrong. They introduce the piece with this quote, 'Ricky Gervais once said, I came to this business uneducated, 5'6", dyslexic, with a face like a squashed cabbage. And they welcomed me with open arms'."
Gervais continued: "No he f**king didn't! Why the f**k would he [write that]? Where did they get that from?"
The comedian went on to say that he typed the phrase into Google and learned that the quote was from actor Bob Hoskins.
