The 78-year-old, who now predominantly uses a wheelchair, recently exchanged rings with boyfriend Jason Winters, 49, according to Us Weekly.
"It's no secret that they've been together forever and are in love, so it wouldn't be a surprise if they were engaged," an insider told the publication. "Right now they are keeping it between them."
Taylor has previously described Winters as "one of the most wonderful men I've ever known, that's why I love him".
The Hollywood veteran has been married eight times - twice to Richard Burton. Her last nuptials, to construction worker Larry Fortensky, finished after five years in 1996.
Winters, who works for Sterling Winters Management company, manages Janet Jackson.
