Spice Girls 'not good enough' for Live 8

The Spice Girls have apparently been axed from the upcoming Live 8 concerts because they don't fit the bill.
According to The Mirror, the girl group had been planning to reform for the special charity gig, which takes place July 2 at venues around the world.
"Many of the biggest rock stars in the world have agreed to take part, and the Spice Girls just don't fit," the newspaper quotes a spokesman for the BBC, who are televising the UK show, as saying.
"It's a political rally to put pressure on world leaders and their kind of pop act didn't seem right for this kind of event. There was also a practical problem that with so many great international rock stars and bands wanting to do their bit, there just won't be time for the Spice Girls."
Expected Brit acts include Paul McCartney, U2, Robbie Williams, Sting, Annie Lennox and Oasis. Sir Bob Geldof will reveal the full lineup later today.
