A woman has withdrawn a lawsuit against David Copperfield claiming that the magician sexually assaulted her.

According to People, Lacey Carroll said that Copperfield's legal team had subjected her "to intense scrutiny and constant surveillance, while her family, friends and co-workers have been besieged with subpoenas and demands for personal information".

Copperfield's representative denied Carroll's latest claim, calling it "a pathetic attempt to extort Mr. Copperfield for money with malicious and false allegations".

Carroll alleged that Copperfield invited her to his private island in the Bahamas in 2007, where he sexually assaulted her.

Federal prosecutors dropped the case without filing charges against the magician in January.
