Melissa Etheridge: 'Kids come first'

Melissa Etheridge has pledged to make her kids her priority after her split from wife Tammy Lynn Michaels.

The singer told Oprah Winfrey that putting the kids at the top of her list is a thought that both she and her ex-wife share.

"We want to do all the things that are best to keep our children healthy and secure," she said.

As for the cause of the split, the rocker said that it was an issue based on "growth".

"As I've gone through this life, having gone through breast cancer almost six years ago now, [I’ve learned] that it’s about evolving. I feel like now I’m walking my life. I'm realising that I’m no good to anyone else unless I’m completely in love with myself and good with myself."
